One Direction not only releases their highly anticipated new track “Best Song Ever” but the accompanying video as well in next to no time. To me their sophomore album didn’t quite go as planned, though it has sold truck loads that album didn’t quite have the hit singles it should’ve had. In comes an upcoming 3D film “This Is Us” and this brand-spanking-new song.
Harry Styles’ vocals on the first few lines are boarderlining yelling which is a bit off-putting. But the harmonies and guitar work soon kicks in and before you know it, the track becomes a catchy, fluffy, pop number suited for countless school dances all around the globe. Its anthemic, its catchy (for their market), its what you would expect from the boys to deliver. Not as infectious as “What Makes You Beautiful” or “Live While We’re Young” nor is it the groups best song ever. But still does the job for their core fans to the tune of pole position in iTunes.
To us who are old enough to go out and/or go to festivals… we know exactly what this song means. You have pre-drinks, you go out to party lookin fly, suave, sexy…then the night escalates, you “loose” your friends and you meet someone bangin and fun which elevates the night into a whole new level. You drink, you talk, you laugh, you do shots, they (or you) try your luck, you kiss and most importatly you sing-a-long to the best song ever at that moment in time and dance the night away having the “best night ever”. #beenthere #donethat
“Said I had a dirty mouth (i got a dirty mouth) but she kissed me like she meant it
I said can I take you home with me, she said never in your wildest dreams”
“And we danced all night to the best song ever
We knew every line now I can’t remember
How it goes but I know that I won’t forget her
Cause we danced all night to the best song ever”
Check out the playful video and see what you think of the tune.
