Maroon 5 is back with “Maps” the lead single for their upcoming album “V” due out in September. Written by Adam Levine, Ryan Tedder and Benny Blanco the track didn’t hit me on first listen like the bands past hits like “Payphone” and “Moves Like Jagger” but after a few replays I found myself tapping my feet to the funk/reggae infused rock production, singing along to the lyrics and soon enough… I was belting out the chorus at the top of my lungs.
As soon as you get the song and get over the fact that its a tad reminiscent of “Payphone” only a touch rockier and edgier, you just know Maroon 5 and their label will be pushing this song as one of their big bids for America’s Summer Song of 2014. Its another hit to add to the band’s already impressive future Greatest Hits collection. #checkitout
“I was there for you in your darkest times
I was there for you in your darkest nights
But I wonder where were you
When I was at my worst down on my knees
And you said you had my back so wonder where were you
All the roads you took came back to me”
