If Pharrel is the King of Cool then Gwen Stefani has got to be the Queen of Cool…and she’s back with brand new material, her first solo effort since 2006’s The Sweetest Escape. Her new single Baby Don’t Lie has just dropped recently – a welcomed return into music from The Voice judge and No Doubt lead vocalist.
Though Baby Don’t Lie kicks off with hand claps over a heavy bass setting the mood for a club banger, the song quickly turns into a mid-tempo pop song about keeping secrets in a relationship. While Stefani’s new single is a tamed re-introduction into the music scene, she proves that her authentic sound is still able to remain current and appeal beyond her core fan base. Iggy Azalea, forget about Nicki and Snoop…Gwen’s back and she’s here to remind us all who the original “Fancy” girl is. #checkitout
We’ve been walking down this road some time / And you love, and you love me good, no lie / But there’s something behind those eyes, those eyes / That you can’t, that you can’t disguise, disguise
Baby don’t, baby don’t / Baby don’t lie / I don’t wanna cry no longer / Baby don’t, baby don’t / Baby don’t lie / I’mma need a love that’s stronger
