“One man’s trash is another man’s treasure” Australian phoenix songstress, Sia materialises the age old quote with her new single Alive – a track co-penned with, but later passed over by Adele. After the track didn’t make the cut for the Rolling In The Deep singer’s album, Sia was given permission to pitch the song to Rihanna who also said pass to the song. Understandably so, as Riri is currently trying to re-invent herself and find her own sound rather being the manufactured popstar she has been since the beginning of her career.
Fast forward to today and Alive is now Sia‘s soaring lead single for her up coming new album This Is Acting a collection of songs which have previously been rejected by other Popstars.
Though Adele‘s influence can be felt and heard through the track, Alive delivers everything you would want and expect from a Sia lead single and more – electrifying and devastatingly epic vocals complete with her signature throat-cracking sound, emotive lyrics written with absolute vulnerability and brilliant oversized production with an incredible build. What an amazing talent from Downunder, Aussie, Aussie, Aussie – Oi, Oi, Oi. #download
I found solace in the strangest place / Way in the back of my mind / I saw my life in a stranger’s face / And it was mine
I had wanted to go to a place where all the demons go / Where the wind don’t change / And nothing in the ground can ever grow / No hope, just lies / And you’re taught to cry in your pillow / But I’ll survive
